Countdown to Cancun – THIS WEEK!

SamplesI was out of town for my 2nd to last weigh in so I don’t have official stats to report.  And the reason I was out of town  was for work training, which meant I wasn’t in control of my food, and I didn’t always make the best choices.  Like the pretzels and caramel popcorn on Thursday afternoon, or ice cream sundae on Friday before we went home.

But I did manage to eat SOME good things, like my Shakeology every day…thank goodness my samples came in just in time.  Those are GREAT for people on the go.

I’m completing a round of the 3 Day Refresh this weekend so Saturday, Sunday, and Monday I’m only drinking shakes and eating fruits, vegetables and healthy fats.  I actually wasn’t even hungry for dinner the first night, but ate anyway.

There’s only shopping, packing, a Monday, and a work review on Tuesday between me and my vacation now.  I may not make it all the way to my goal of 15#, but I made consistent progress and I know I am lighter, smaller, and fitter than I was late-February when I started planning for this trip.

Countdown to Cancun – 11 Days

How can it be only 11 days away?  I was good this week, but not as good as I could have and thus, the scale only dropped a pound.  Only, is not a positive way to look at it, because it’s better than GAINING a pound!

Next weekend I’m going to do the 3-Day Refresh again and also go buy a new swim suit!  Yikes!  But I’m sure all the stores will be stocked full of this year’s summer items.  I already have all the resort casual dresses, shirts and shorts, and coverups I need for the trip.  I have one swim-suit I plan on bringing and hope to find just one more that I like enough to buy. I have at least a dozen swim suits, but a gal can always have at least one more, right?

Countdown to Cancun – 18 Days

This S#!T is getting real.  LOL.  Well I went down a pound this week, so that officially puts me behind schedule, but you know what – I’ve lost 9# in 6 weeks and I’m pretty darn happy with that. I put on some summer dresses and shorts yesterday and I have plenty to get my through the 5 day vacation. I may head over to Kohl’s or Target and pick up a new swim suit though.  Gotta have SOMETHING new to sport on my reward vacation. 🙂

Last weekend was a true challenge for me.  We had friends in from out of town and it seemed like all we did was ate and drank.  The scale was seriously up 10# on Monday, but most of that was sodium from pizza and bloody marys.  So I got re-focused after they left, worked out every day, and put my food in those crazy colored containers and stuck to those.  It really does work, and I don’t feel hungry.

I went to a GREAT spin class this morning, but now I’m exhausted and think I will be going to bed early tonight.

My message to you is…keep plugging along.  The warm weather is on it’s way and it will be shorts and swimsuit season for us all soon enough!

Countdown To Cancun – 26 Days

NeverGiveUpWell it was bound to happen.  I gained weight this week.  I was on such a roll, but the body does what it wants to do on the scale, sometimes no matter how hard you try.  But the truth is I tried some days, and I did the opposite of trying on others.  We had some early St. Patrick’s Day celebrations on Saturday, then we went out for pizza and drinks on Monday after a meeting, and then we went out again on Tuesday.  So yeah, I earned that gain.

Tough thing is, we have friends in town this weekend.  Doubled up on workouts on Thursday and just going to give it my best shot to eat well and workout more.

When I lose the weight before Cancun, that doesn’t mean I’m done.  It just means I’m in a better place than I was when I started to focus on it in late-February.

Never Give Up.

Countdown to Cancun – 32 days

Just over a month until Cancun.  WOO HOO!  I am down an amazing 3.6# this week and 8.6# total since Valentine’s Day!  Well, I’m not surprised.  I worked HARD on my workouts and especially my nutrition.  Stayed on track with my commitment to only enjoy adult beverages once a week and food plan was almost perfect with 3 modest meals and 2 snacks daily.  I’m continued living proof that the 21 Day Fix Meal Plan WORKS!

A sample day looks like this:

  • Breakfast:  2 hard boiled eggs, 1 slice Ezekiel toast, cup of cherry tomatoes
  • Snack:  Chocolate Vegan Shakeology with 1/2 frozen banana, water, and 1 tsp. almond butter, blended
  • Lunch:  petite turkey meatloaf, 2 cups of cut up broccoli, celery and carrots, apple
  • Snack:  3/4 cup 0% fat Greek Yogurt, 1 cup of fresh berries, 100 calorie popcorn
  • Dinner:  chicken and veggie stir fry with fresh ginger and sesame oil,  mixed green salad with avocado and Newman’s light dressing

In the past I would have tracked this to the calorie on MyFitnessPal. obsessed over every bite and statistic, and it would come out to:

  • 1843 calories
  • 53 g fat
  • 219 carbs
  • 137 g protein
  • 87 grams of sugar
  • 44 g fiber
  • 1890 g sodium

OR what I do now:  6 greens, 5 reds, 3 purples, 3 yellows, 1 blue, 1 orange, 4 tsp.

Countdown to Cancun – 39 days

I didn’t get a chance to post yesterday, but I’m down 2 lbs. this week in my efforts to lose 15 lbs. before my Cancun trip.  Just a little bit ahead of schedule, but it’s going to get harder before it gets easier.

What have I been doing?

Nutrition:

  • 3 meals and 2 snacks a day
  • Mostly ho-made, well balanced food
  • Limiting myself to one night a week where I can have adult beverages

Exercise:

  • 30 minute workouts 5-6 days a week (most recently P90X3) and one 1 hour and 45 minute yoga class once a week

Other:

  • Plenty water:  aim for 80+ oz. a day
  • 7+ hours of sleep a night

Countdown To Cancun – 47 Days

On Monday I got a call from a coach on my team inviting me to be her guest on a tropical vacation in Mexico on April 15th, which she earned through her Beachbody business.

  • On Tuesday I discussed it with my hubby,
  • On Wednesday I cleared it with my boss,
  • On Thursday I booked my flight,

On Friday I started FREAKING OUT!

How am I going to get Beachbody ready in 47 days?  LOL.

The most amazing thing is, this coach who invited me EARNED this trip.  She signed up in January 2014, had to pay a deposit, and then each month as she helped connect people with health and fitness support, Beachbody chipped in for her vacation.  Over the course of the year she touched many lives, helped lots of people, and gained a great deal of satisfaction from doing so.  In return, Beachbody is sending her and a guest (ME!) to Cancun for an all-inclusive, 5-day/4-night tropical vacation with sun, and sand, and booze, and food, and a spa…..oh yeah, and hobnobbing with some of the most successful coaches in this organization.  I guess we’ll do a couple workouts too.   haha

Before I knew about this upcoming vacation, I was punching and kicking my way through COMBAT in January and February  (it’s a mixed martial arts workout).

Almost 2 weeks ago, I started P90X3 that I’m streaming on my iPad through Beachbody’s On Demand, and am LOVING this program.

I also attend a 1-hour 45 minute yoga class most Saturdays, and I’m going to start spinning once a week, probably on Sundays because who knows when it’s going to warm up so I can start running again.

My food is on track with the 21 Day Fix Portion Control, and I feel like I have a handle on my snacking and moderate consumption of adult beverages.

SO…I’m going to Cancun in 47 days and my GOAL is to lose 15 lbs. by then.  Can I do it?  I don’t know, but I’m going to work on it every day, and I’d love the support from all of YOU!

I am SO EXCITED I can’t even tell you, and this is exactly the kind of motivation I needed to kick my workouts up a notch, and really keep a handle on my food intake.  I’ll be updating you on a weekly basis so stay tuned for the incredibly shrinking Mel.
