No Guilt Chocolate Cupcake

YAY – My microwave is fixed, so I can start making these again.  And No Guilt!


-1/4 tsp baking powder
-1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology
-dash of salt
-1 egg
-2 or 3 tbs water/milk
-optional mix in:  1 tsp. peanut butter

-In a mug mix Shakeology, baking powder, salt
-Next, mix in an egg and  2-3 tablespoons of water/milk
-Mix until dry ingredients are wet
-If you’d like to add peanut butter, put one dollop in the center and push it down a bit
-Microwave for 50-60 sec.
-When it is done the edges will pull from the sides.

If you’re following the 21 Day Fix Plan this equals:

  • 1.5 – RED
  • 1 – teaspoon (if you have Peanut Butter)

21 Day Fix Extreme CEO Results









So these are the results for our CEO Carl Daikeler’s 21 days of the 21 Day Extreme workout and nutrition plan.  He is 8 lbs down doing one round of 21 Day Fix Extreme and following the Countdown to Competition nutrition plan. He says he feels “way stronger and more agile than he was just three weeks ago. Not bad for a 51 year old dude!

He followed this thing to the letter. And while he was not overweight (thanks to monthly rounds of the 3-Day Refresh), he was definitely not in shape when he started. The first week was REALLY hard for him, but he’s pretty pleased with how fast he adapted. Countdown to Cancun – 32 days


Just over a month until Cancun.  WOO HOO!  I am down an amazing 3.6# this week and 8.6# total since Valentine’s Day!  Well, I’m not surprised.  I worked HARD on my workouts and especially my nutrition.  Stayed on track with my commitment to only enjoy adult beverages once a week and food plan was almost perfect with 3 modest meals and 2 snacks daily.  I’m continued living proof that the 21 Day Fix Meal Plan WORKS!

A sample day looks like this:

  • Breakfast:  2 hard boiled eggs, 1 slice Ezekiel toast, cup of cherry tomatoes
  • Snack:  Chocolate Vegan Shakeology with 1/2 frozen banana, water, and 1 tsp. almond butter, blended
  • Lunch:  petite turkey meatloaf, 2 cups of cut up broccoli, celery and carrots, apple
  • Snack:  3/4 cup 0% fat Greek Yogurt, 1 cup of fresh berries, 100 calorie popcorn
  • Dinner:  chicken and veggie stir fry with fresh ginger and sesame oil,  mixed green salad with avocado and Newman’s light dressing

In the past I would have tracked this to the calorie on MyFitnessPal. obsessed over every bite and statistic, and it would come out to:

  • 1843 calories
  • 53 g fat
  • 219 carbs
  • 137 g protein
  • 87 grams of sugar
  • 44 g fiber
  • 1890 g sodium

OR what I do now:  6 greens, 5 reds, 3 purples, 3 yellows, 1 blue, 1 orange, 4 tsp.

Do You Track Macros?

I think it’s an AWESOME way to really get your nutrition dialed in for optimal fat loss while still building muscle, but I do think 21-Day fix is the easier way and teaches you to eye-ball it, and teaches you which foods are considered carbs, proteins and healthy fats…. something you’ll always remember! While I believe in the effectiveness of tracking Macro’s, I don’t want to track everything I eat for the rest of my life. But I do sorta track it if I feel my nutrition has been getting off track.

A little education for those who are not up to speed, but Macro Nutrients are carbs, proteins and fats. Your body only needs a certain amount of each to MAINTAIN your current body composition, a certain amount to lose fat, and a certain amount to gain fat, and certain amount to lose fat and gain muscle. So by tracking what is *estimated* that your body needs to lose fat, you are basically eating the nutrients you NEED to hit your goal.

A common ratio for fatloss while still gaining some muscle is 40/30/30 – i.e. 40% of your ideal intake for fatloss being carbs, 30% protein, and 30% healthy fats. So this would mean, if your ideal calorie intake for fatloss was 2000 calories, then 40% of your total calories would come from carbs and you need to convert those calories to grams (2000*40%= 800 calories and since there are 4 calories per gram of carbs, that means 200grams of carbs for the day).

Doing the math for the protein would mean 150 grams of protein (protein is also 4 calories per gram) and it would equate to 66 grams of healthy fats (fats are 9 calories per gram). If you know your ideal calorie intake for fat loss, you can enter that calorie number in on the site and look for Macronutrient Calculator and it will tell you how many grams to eat per day.

21 Day Fix 092214Gah, I have just been having way to much fun this summer, and today marks the first day of Fall, so I decided to re-dedicate myself to the 21 Day Fix nutrition program and drop some extra pounds before the holidays…and my soon to be planned vacation (more on that later).  So I dusted off my 21 Day Fix Eating Guide, re-calculated my containers (they didn’t change luckily) and did a little scrounging around in the fridge and cupboard for some healthy, balanced food for the day.  I have to say Day 1 was a huge success, just as easy as I remembered, and while I felt slightly hungry, I was never ravenous or felt like I wanted to “cheat”.  I also realized I’m almost out of fruit and veggies so I made a list and a trip to the grocery store and will be stocked for days with yummy healthy food to fuel my belly without excess calories.

The exercise component is also key, but I have to say – the first time I did the 21 Day Fix back in February, I was laid up with a back/leg injury and could barely walk let alone exercise, and I still lost a steady, healthy amount of weight.  So don’t let any excuses get in the way if you can’t work out every day.
