Smart Start: A 7 Day Intro to Health & Fitness

How does Smart Start work?

The Workouts

Smart Start comes with four 30-minute workouts: cardio, strength, core function, and flexibility.  The only equipment required is a set of dumbbells for the strength workout. There will be an intensifier available if you want to kick up your workout a notch!!

The Nutrition Plan

There is NO calorie counting in this program!! You will receive a step-by-step meal planner that breaks it all down for you with delicious, nutritious foods and a sample supply of Shakeology. 7 Day SMART START Group

A lot of people ask me how I got started with Beachbody.  Not the coaching, just as a customer.  So here’s my story.  And maybe you’ll understand a little bit about me and why I’m so passionate about helping others find their TRIBE too.

I was one of those rare people who purchased a Beachbody program and completed the whole 90-day program from start to finish and had AMAZING results.  Alone.  No Coach.  No Shakeology.  No support.  No accountability group.

People who buy a workout program online or through an infomercial have every intention of doing it….and getting the results “as seen on TV”.  But reality sets in.  Many don’t even take it out of the box.  Most don’t finish.  And those that do, really have found that it’s more than JUST a workout program.  It’s the combination of exercise + nutrition + support.  And the final step…recognition.  Something I was missing.

You see after being a competitive athlete all throughout school, I was used to being “On A Team”.  But after school ended, so did my active lifestyle.  And as I moved out, grew up, lived alone, and had to start “adulting”, nutrition and exercise were not on my priority list.  So I gained weight.  Slowly, over the years until I was sitting at 210# at my heaviest.  Body aches all over, feeling like crap, exhausted every night.  I also smoked.  For almost 20 years, but one day woke up, decided enough was enough and I quit smoking.  OMG that was hard.  But it was so worth it.

I didn’t want to gain any more weight (like a lot of people do when they quit smoking) so I joined Weight Watchers and successfully lost almost 50#. To this day I tell people Weight Watchers works.  But it doesn’t teach you how to eat healthy…just less.  I also started exercising.  And since I was too embarrassed to step foot in a gym, I started walking, just around the block with my dog at first, and then a little further each day until we were covering over 3 miles.  I was starting to feel good, so turned my walks into runs, and eventually could run the 3 miles no problem.  And then I started adding miles.

After I was tired of paying Weight Watchers, I took to counting calories on MyFitnessPal. I met some fit friends, learned some tricks along the way, and kept the weight off.  The tracking became an obsession.  One I detested, but one I couldn’t stop because it worked.  But I found myself in a vicious cycle of eating great during the week and then falling apart on the weekends.  And whenever I wanted pizza and beer, or other “cheat meals”, I’d run extra miles to burn them off. I was what you’d call skinny fat.  The scale told me what I wanted to hear, but I still wasn’t comfortable in my skin.

The next few years after that were a blur.  In addition to counting calories, I tried it all: crossfit, gym, personal trainer, yoga, hot yoga, more running, belly dancing, ZUMBA…the list goes on and on.  And then my very first Beachbody program which finally took my “skinny body” into a toned, tight, sexy body I could be proud of.

Shortly after I completed the 90 day program, I was approached by a friend to do an “Online Challenge Group”. She said we would workout, eat healthy, and check in together for accountability.

I WAS IN!

I was craving more healthy people to surround myself and this sounded perfect.  But you gotta do a Beachbody workout and drink Shakeology she said.  Oh, I’m already doing Beachbody I said.  Well no wonder you look so amazing, she replied.

We talked about my goals, and she recommended a new program that would allow me to lift weights in my basement (which I loved to do), and still run on alternating days.  I was SOLD.

Except this Shakeology.

I really didn’t want to do it.  But she said it’s part of the complete package and any time you cut calories, you cut nutrition, and when you cut nutrition, your body starts to go into starvation mode.  It started to make sense that I was literally starving my body during the week and why I was constantly binging on the weekends.  Only to wake up every Monday morning and start the vicious cycle again.

So I went for it.  What did I have to lose?  And I feel in love.  With ALL of it.  The workouts were awesome.  I didn’t LOVE Shakeology the first few times I had it, but we tried some different recipes, and now I can’t imagine a day without it.  What I found out was if I could put at least one healthy thing in my body every day, I was better at making healthy choices ALL throughout the day.  And on days I wasn’t my best, at least it was something that filled the gaps.  I noticed a difference in my overall energy, digestion, stopped getting sick, and generally just felt amazing pretty much every day.  ESPECIALLY when I drank it every day, and the longer I drank it.

The groups were what really sealed the deal for me, and like I mentioned what attracted me to it in the first place.  And I always love a little competitive challenge so any opportunity to push myself to do better and win some PRIZES, I’m in!

Attached are some before an after’s from a 3-week Beachbody program I completed that was focused exclusively on Nutrition.  Not a lick of exercise.  Which proves to me once again, nutrition is really 80% of our success.  I notice most the belly bloat is greatly reduced, the cellulite is almost non-existent, and my skin is flawless.

I have completed over a dozen Beachbody challenges since that first Challenge my coach had invited me to. And I will keep doing Challenges as long as there are workouts + nutrition including Shakeology + a group to support me.  I am so grateful my coach reached out to me, and that I said YES because I don’t know where I’d be with my health and fitness without these Challenge Groups and Beachbody.

I think a 90 day program is REALLY hard to complete, even WITH a coach, Shakeology, and a Challenge Group.  Not everyone has it in them to do so.

Not Another Monday…

Do you know how many people are living in the same house they were living in 5 years ago?

Do you know how many people are working at the same job, in the same position they were working 5 years ago?

Are You Ready For A Week of Hard Labor?

I had so much fun doing Shaun T Week with my customers so I am SUPER excited that Beachbody is at it again! This time we are going to try a week of HARD LABOR with the Beast himself, Sagi Kalev.  Have you ever done Body Beast before?  I did this program earlier this year and I loved it.  I did not BULK up, I toned up and I really leaned out!  It was great for my body and gave me that athletic toned feel vs. skinny.

What Is A Week Of Hard Labor?

 

A Week of Hard Labor is going to be just like Shaun T week – starting on September 5th, Sagi will release a new workout on Beachbody on Demand every day for 5 days. He will target a different muscle group each day and work it until it can’t work anymore! During this 5-day program we will work on your chest and back, legs, shoulders and arms, total body, and core.

A Week of Hard Labor is perfect for anyone interested in weight training, people who don’t like heavy cardio, and fans of The Beast!!  Sagi will whip you into shape with 25-45 minute workouts and I will keep you on track with daily motivation, accountability, and support. Plus, I’ll get you set up with a 5-day meal plan designed for optimized performance.

This program is starting right after the long holiday weekend, so it’s being released RIGHT when we need it most! I know Labor Day is the time to end the summer with picnics and cookouts which obviously throws a wrench in our health and fitness plans!! Even the most disciplined and dedicated people can get a little unfocused when there are a ton of temptations in front of you.

Happy August, and I wanted to give you a little update on what’s new and what’s to come with Team Beachbocy.

Beachbody announced a bunch of new products and programs at Summit and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come. For those of you who follow me as customers or coaches that couldn’t make it to Summit, I wanted to fill you in on these awesome announcements!

The Shift Shop Is Coming Summer 2017

I am so freaking excited that Beachbody has officially announced its newest fitness program called Shift Shop by Chris Downing.  I got to work out with him in Punta Cana in April and it was so hard, but so good!

He has created a 3 week rapid results program to help you rebuild your body and reinvent your life.  It doesn’t matter where you came from.  Or where you’ve been.  You can always reinvent yourself.  When you have someone like Chris Downing to train you, someone who genuinely cares about you and your goals then the sky is the limit.

He seriously is the male version of Chalene Johnson from a motivational standpoint.  He makes you feel like you can do anything you put your mind too which is definitely the TRUTH!  It’s about believing in yourself, not letting your past define you because you are not going that way.  Look forward, chin up, lets change your body, your mind and your health for good.

What is the Shift Shop Workout?

  • It is a 3 week rapid rebuild program.
  • It is for anyone who wants to ramp up their fitness fast.
  • It goes from basic 25 minute workouts to advanced 45 minute routines, all while honoring your nutrition for optimal results.

My Favorite Things

These are some of my favorite things:

For your Hair:

Second Day by Unite. I get it at my hair salon, but you should be able to find it in the cosmetics department of your pharmacy, or of course online. I use this after I wash and dry my hair to give it a smoother, silkier finish and reduce the fly aways. It blends right into my hair and is never sticky or stiff. Great for gals with thick hair that has a mind of its own. My hair is super thick and it takes a long time to wash and dry and style, so I try to go a day in between washes or sometimes even two if I can get away with it.

 

For your Kitchen:

OXO Good Grips GreenSaver Produce Keeper:  Who else gets excited about kitchen gadgets? This is coming from a gal who used to screw up Mac & Cheese!
As much as I eat veggies🍅🍆🌽🌶🍄, some of them always go bad so I’ve invested in 2 large, 1 medium, and 1 small of these.  Pay for themselves in just a few months!

 

For your Workout:

Shaun T Week Coming Soon To Beachbody On Demand

I am so freaking excited to announce that Shaun T is coming back for another appearance!!  Shaun T is launching Shaun T Week To Beachbody On Demand on June 12th 2017.  It is one week of fitness but it is about changing your life and transforming your mind and body.  It is about getting motivated to get connected to your fitness, to your mental journey and to continuing on with your progress and reaching your health and fitness goals.

When Does It Start?

The group starts on June 12th and it goes day by day  live on Beachbody On Demand.  You will not be able to look ahead.  Each workout is posted live that morning.  It is perfect timing because my basement remodel should be finished by then, I can get back to my workout room, and we can crush it together through my support and accountability group.

How to get it?  You need to make me your coach and get Beachbody On Demand through me as your coach.

Secondly, there is a great modifier so even if you don’t like being down on the floor you can modify with Shaun T and he gives you that option.  These workouts are like the best of Shaun T, his greatest hits!

THE WORKOUTS:

Insane Basics:  Go Slow, form over speed, work through it.

Pure Cardio Part 2:  It is going to be amazing!  You don’t go to the floor at all.

Insane Weights:  This workout is hitting the weights in an Insanity format.

25 Abs:  25 minutes of abs that is so ridiculously amazing that you will need to pray before do it! LOL

BrickSanity:  Asylum strength and T25 mixture and a lot of insane craziness!

Speed 4.0:  Speed workout similar to what you did in T25 Speed 1.0 and 2.0

Dig Deep is how you end the week with a bang!  This is BANANA’s YO!!!!  This sounds like Friday Fight From Max 30.

So it won’t stop at the end of 7 days.  There is a lot more in store for you after those 7 days!

This 4-week program will get you moving with 30-minute workouts packed with classic party songs and dance moves from the 80s and 90s. There are 4 cardio-dance routines and 2 body-sculpting workouts.

Who is YOUv2 for?

Great for all fitness levels, YOUv2 is designed for women who want a fun dance-inspired workout that’s easy to follow. If you’ve never really worked out, or you haven’t worked out in a long time, this program is perfect for you! In just four weeks you’ll be feeling and looking better without all the stress of a strict program and fad diet.

What is the eating plan like?

The K.I.S.S. (Keep It Super Simple) & JUST EAT! Meal Guide is your on-ramp to eating better and feeling better. It’s not a strict diet. It’s designed to help you make small, simple changes over 4 weeks with 4 easy steps. These help you create new healthy habits that will become second nature. You’ll get easy-to-make healthy recipes, too.

When can I get this workout?
